Bio

Kimberly Colegrove is a Denver-based metalsmith with a lifelong passion for the arts, both as an artist and educator. Kim has been drawn to creative expression whether it is drawing, printmaking, or metalsmithing. Although she grew up in northern Colorado, she spent summers with her family in the Pennsylvania Allegheny Mountains. She developed a deep appreciation for the ever-changing natural landscapes of these regions that influence her work to this day. At the University of Northern Colorado, Kim focused initially on printmaking, but discovered her love for working with metal through the process of adding textures to printing plates which led to her interest in metalsmithing. After obtaining a BA in Visual Arts, she continued her studies with jewelry classes at a local college.

Now, as the owner of Contemplative Metals and Design, she has shifted her focus to her own meaning-making through metalwork. Her jewelry-making process is a quiet conversation between her and the metal—intuitive and responsive. Her work emphasizes forging, raising, and fold-forming techniques. Kim uses these processes to explore the properties of the metals she works with, where each piece is developed organically. Her work reflects her reverence for the natural world, echoing organic forms, textures, and the subtle imperfections found in nature.

Her work is currently available at Madison & Main Gallery in Greeley, CO.
